THE HISTORY OF [GMW]

Well where to begin? As with all these things certain parts of the past have got lost in the mists of time so I may not be 100% right but this is how it all happened to the best of my recollection!

A few of us used to play a game called Air Attack and were in a Squadron called GODZ which sadly disbanded so 3 of us Gizmo, Moosehunter and me (Wolf) decided to start our own AA squadron called GMW – which stood for get Mullered Weekly (that meant pissed as well as beaten as we only played for fun).

But you may be asking, what has that to do with Counter Strike and other FPS games? Well when we were in GODZ a few of us Sooty, Yorkie, Statto, Moosie (+Minty I think in later stages) and myself used to play the original Counter Strike which sooty would host , then Gizmo got into it - so  when we made GMW into an AA squadron  a few weeks later Gizmo & Statto said to me about forming a GMW CS clan so within 5 minutes we had our first forum up and running and away we went. Sooty was our  first CL as at that time Gizmo was GMW AA CL. Later Statto took over running the clan when Sooty left and present day Keeshna is CL.

I shan’t go into how every member after that joined as this is more how it first started but quite a few other members Keeshna, Cat and Busta were also ex AA players who joined and they in turn brought other friends etc, in fact a large part of GMW over the years has been Scottish and that is all down to Keesh working his local charm on people he knew like Kinel (plus he understands the language lol).

Our Ethos from day one has been to play for a laugh and to never worry whether we won or lost as long as we had fun doing it. We have branched out into other game mods (mainly HL2 based) so now play games like DOD Source, Dystopia, The Hidden as well as Counter Strike Source. We have tried most Hl2 mods and kept the ones we all enjoyed.

 We have had some up’s and downs over the years but never lost sight that the fundamental part that kept the core of us together was to have a laugh, play games we wanted to play and enjoy each other company without taking it too seriously. And I think of them all as good friends (in fact it seems strange thinking back to how many years we have known each other) and I am sure we all share that sentiment.

So if you want to join a clan that plays purely for fun then you could do a lot worse than giving us a go J
